Walnut and Granite Entry Table Shoe Rack

Organization matters as much in woodworking as in the home. Our shoes and keys and mail and bags were piled by the door, and it couldn’t go on. I was inspired to build this table and shoe rack around the cut-off granite from the Blandena kitchen build. The granite wasn’t square, but you’d have to look closely to see it now. The panels are walnut armor-ply banded with hardwood. I sloped the outer shoe shelves for asthetics, and set them on cleats for easy removal and cleaning. Four coats of poly provide adequate protection from wet, dirty shoes. If I were to build this one again, I would dado the panel joints and widen the face frame to overhang the panels like the angled shelves.
