Orvis Hot Springs Reception Desk

When we were approached by Orvis Hot Springs to design and build this free-standing reception desk for their newly remodeled entry and reception area, the feeling was equal parts excitement and intimidation. This unit needed to maximize storage with fully adjustable shelving, but it also needed sliding, locking doors due to the close proximity of the back walls. Our main challenge with this piece, aside from choosing the prettiest quarter-sawn white oak, was how to reinforce the structure so that it was sturdy and lasting despite lacking of rigidity across two planes.
